Job Description: 

Provide support to the clinical team by delivering quality patient care.

  1. Fulfills patient care responsibilities as assigned which may include:

  1. Performing venipuncture and/or EKGs

  2. Accompanying patients to exam/ procedure room

  3. Assisting patients as needed with walking, transferring and dressing

  4. Collecting and processing specimens

  5. Preparing patients for exam

  1. Assists physicians and nurses with various procedures, takes vital signs, relays instructions to patients and/or families while adhering to HIPAA guidelines

  2. Answers calls and provides pertinent information.

  3. Inventories, orders, or restocks medical supplies as applicable. Catalogs patients’ belongings

  4. Sets-up examination area and instruments in accordance with proper sterilization techniques established by hospital and infection control policies.

  5. Transport patients to assigned beds on patient care unit

  6. Provides post-mortem care

  7. Maintains a safe, secure, and healthy work environment by following standards, procedures, and observing legal regulations

  8. Complies with established personal protective equipment (PPE) requirements necessary for protection against exposure to blood and other potentially infectious body fluids, chemical disinfectants, radiation, and other hazardous substances.

  
 
Job Qualifications: 

High School Diploma/ GED

Certification as a Medical Assistant from an approved program

BLS

Basic computer skills to use Electronic Medical Record (EMR) systems

Ability to communicate effectively with multicultural and language-deficit patients

Effective interpersonal and communications skills required

Excellent telephone etiquette and customer service skills

Proficient in medical terminology and HIPAA guidelines

Knowledge of EMR and billing systems preferred but not required

Must be able to adapt to a growing and changing environment

Heavy lifting may be required
