Description
: Coordinates evidenced based medicine and performance improvement activities of the clinical staff. These activities include Core Measures, IHI initiatives and other quality initiatives that are underway in the facility. Responsible for concurrent record review, data collection and staff education regarding evidence based medicine. Participates in public reporting and Center of Excellence quality improvement initiatives. Participates in committees associated with Core measures and other quality initiatives as needed. Serves as consultant to the Medical Staff Committees and Department Managers. Coordinates with physicians in real time and retrospectively on evidence based medicine compliance. Participates and assist in the overall hospital wide PI activities and Accreditation program for the hospital. Any other duty as assigned.

Qualifications
:
REQUIRED EDUCATION, TRAINING, and/or EXPERIENCE
Bachelor’s degree preferred. Experience in hospital based nursing, and / or Core Measures coordination / Performance Improvement Initiatives experience required.   Experience with adult learning / teaching module, position specific requirements are data entry and analysis; nursing experience in a hospital setting preferred; experience in the care for stroke patients preferred.
REQUIRED LICENSES and CERTIFICATIONS
Licensed in the State of Georgia as a Registered Nurse. BLS Certification required upon hire.    NIH Stroke scale certified within 30 days; ACLS certification required within 6 months of hire.
OTHER REQUIRED SPECIAL SKILLS and KNOWLEDGE
Good communication, presentation, adult education, leadership, organizational and computer skills and have some travel and scheduling flexibility to meet the needs of the hospital, and regional, state and national meeting schedules.
Must be able to deal effectively with management, administration, medical staff and ancillary departments. Able to act as a group facilitator and set priorities for action. Uses goal-directed approach in project management.
Must be able to perform effectively in a stressful and fast paced work environment. Must have the ability to prioritize appropriately. Must be detail oriented and have the capacity to effectively multitask throughout the work shift. Must have excellent communication skills and the capacity to interact professionally with a variety of “customers”, including but not limited to patients, families, co-workers, volunteers, and physicians throughout the work shift. Must possess the ability to function independently, yet productively as a cooperative team member with various work teams associated with the position. Must be compliant, with a willingness to follow all Hospital policies as well as the established practices, protocols and procedures of the position, department and applicable professional standards.
