Job Duties

Under the general supervision of the Director, Emergency & Trauma Services, the Pre-Hospital Care Coordinator/Administrative Nurse II is responsible for supervising staff, problem solving issues, and facilitating an efficient and effective work environment. The Prehospital Care Coordinator (PCC) provides education and conducts performance improvement for Mobile Intensive Care Nurses and Paramedic Personnel assigned to Paramedic Units which operate within the UCLA Base Station service area.   The PCC is responsible for monitoring all contractual items with the County of Los Angeles regarding Base Station Operations. The position is responsible for performance and quality improvement efforts, monitoring customer service compliance, and integration of multidisciplinary teams. In collaboration with medical and administrative colleagues, the incumbent's responsibility includes ensuring consistent clinical practice as it relates to LA County EMS, UCLA policy and procedures, JCAHO, Title 22, and DPH.   

Job Qualifications

Competency in Emergency Nursing Patient Care

Knowledge of nursing and Emergency Trauma Tech Scopes of Practice

Knowledge of University, departmental and institutional policies and procedures

Ability to schedule staff within expected and provided guidelines

Skill in verbal and written communication

Skill in prioritizing assignments to complete work in a timely accurate manner

Ability to provide teaching to staff, patients, patients' significant others, other health care team members and the community

Ability to perform effectively with fluctuating workload
