*Train MA's and assure any need for certification.
*Assist staff in the accurate identification of high-risk patients and implement appropriate safety measures.
*Provide clinical and administrative instruction to staff and acts as a role model.
*Provide for professional growth and development of staff through identification of needs and encourages educational efforts.
*Develop curriculum for MA's in all aspects of patient care (develop content and system to check competency for all MA's).
*Orient and train MA's on policies and procedure.
*Provide basic rooming documentation, desk top management.
*Work patient registries for diabetes, hypertension, hyperlipidemia, and health maintenance, identifying which patients should be contacted.
*Send reminders to patients.
*Know and train on sterile technique, set up for various procedures (minor surgery), office testing (EKG, INR, glucose, strep, UA, flu, etc.), and administration of injections.
*Maintain/monitor inventory; insuring there is a system to identify clinical supply needs.
*Assist with ordering medications and inventory of biologicals as needed.
*Assess, evaluate, and make recommendations for facilities management/equipment needs.
*Monitor to insure appropriate utilization of equipment/supplies.
*File requisitions for medications (both standard and vaccines for children) in accordance with established procedures and monitors usage to minimize waste.
*Maintain Center to insure patient and employee safety and comfort.
*Ensure proper hand washing techniques by all staff and providers.
*Ensure proper disposal of all biologically hazard materials.
*Ensure proper patient identification in all aspects of clinical care.
*Ensure compliance with OSHA guidelines for all employees.
*Ensure clinical equipment is inspected and operating properly at regular intervals.
*Develop staff reporting system for errors and analyze for root cause.
*Participate in the recruitment and selection of staff for the clinics.
*Complete performance evaluations for medical assistants in a timely manner.
*Plan, maintain, and monitor appropriate staff scheduling including dissemination of information and maintain documentation; skill mix.
*Effectively coordinate/supervise employees in performance of duties.
*Address any personnel issues to promote a productive work environment.
- Required: Associate's degree in Nursing.
- Preferred: Bachelor's degree in Nursing.
- Required: Three years of previous nursing experience.
- Required: Current licensing as a Registered Nurse by the Board of Nurse Examiners of the State of Texas.
