Manage and implement a cancer genetics education, counseling and testing program. Identify patients who might be candidates for cancer genetic testing. Meet with patients and family members to educate and counsel them on the role of genes and heredity in the development of cancer.  Discuss the risks and benefits of genetic testing. Determine coverage of testing from the insurance provider.  Work in collaboration with the physician to discuss test results and medical recommendations. Provide education and in-service training to SERMC personnel as needed.



MS in Genetic Counseling from an accredited American Board of Genetic Counseling (ABGC) program or MS in Nursing from an accredited Nursing Program

Georgia State Licensure required, if an RN

ABGC eligible as a Certified Genetic Counselor

ABGC certification preferred

2-3 years experience in cancer genetic counseling
