The Staff RN/Educator is a practitioner and educator. As a practitioner responsible for assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating nursing care for an identified group of patients according to Froedtert Hospital's professional practice model. This individual demonstrates increasing competency in delivery of care to a primarily adult population. As an Educator, collaborates with the Educational Services, participating in the design, implementation and evaluation of orientation, continuing education relevant to unit staff, regulatory compliance, patient and family education. Maintains unit specific standard of practice based on current literature, and best practices. The Staff RN/Educator is available for all three shifts, based on unit educational needs. Other duties as assigned. Educators serve as role models for education and facilitate team building. They have a responsibility to foster a positive attitude about the benefits and opportunities of life-long learning. The Staff RN/Educator job description has incorporated the essential functions of the job description which are adapted from the ANA: The Nursing Professional Development Scope and Standards of Practice and the ANA Scope and Standards of Nursing Practice 2nd Edition (2010).
Minimum of 3-5 years of acute care experience is necessary to effectively assess staff members' educational needs, design programs, to meet identified needs and to oversee instruction for staff members.
Bachelor of Science in Nursing required; Professional knowledge of nursing theory, educational theories, and principles to assist in the process of providing education to a professional staff.
Masters in Nursing preferred.
Certification required within 2 years in clinical specialty or Nursing Professional Development. Requires current state of Wisconsin Registered Nurse License or a Multi-state Nursing License from a participating state in the NLC (Nurse Licensure Compact).
