OurPerioperative Services Educator positions are critical to the success ofSt. Joseph'sMedical Center and require the full understanding and active participation in fulfilling the Mission of Dignity Health. It is expected that our employees demonstrate behavior consistent with the Core Values.

The Perioperative Services Educator is responsible for the orientation and education of staff in the Operating Room, PACU, Short Stay Unit, Sterile Processing, Pre-Admit and inpatient Endoscopy units. The Perioperative Services Educator functions under the direction of the Director of Surgery. The educator is responsible for the assessment of the staff’s educational needs and for planning, coordinating, teaching and evaluating programs to meet their needs. The Educator will act as an educational and clinical resource to the Manager/Charge Nurses and staff. In addition, the Educator will assist with coordinating performance improvement projects.


  • Graduate from a school of nursing

  • MSN Degree Required
  • A minimum of three to five (3-5) years operating room experience required
  • Demonstrated evidence of leadership, teaching ability and communication skills.
  • Must have knowledge of the Nursing Process, Principles and Procedures
  • Must have documented evidence of sound clinical judgment and technical competence.
  • Current BLS, ACLS and PALS Card


  • Certified Operating Room Nurse (CNOR) preferred
