Methodist Hospital, a member of Dignity Health, is currently looking for a Manager of Surgical Services to join their hospital staff. The Manager's overall scope of responsibilities consists of all Surgical Services units on a 24-hour basis. In addition the Manager of Surgical Services is responsible to assist the Director of Surgical Services with the preparation, maintenance and monitoring of the budgets and staffing for these departments. To ensure that these standards are met, this position is responsible in observing and evaluating direct and indirect care; providing opportunities for professional development of the staff; and communicating the goals and objectives of these services as well as the Nursing Administration to the staff.

To effectively discharge the responsibilities of this position, the Manager must have a broad base of general nursing knowledge with a specific background in perioperative nursing practice. Effective communication skills at the professional, human resource, technical and management levels are also essential to this position. As medical technology advances, the Manager is also charged with the responsibility of maintaining human dignity at all levels in keeping with the Mission and Philosophy.


  • Must have a current California RN license.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing, with a Master’s Degree highly preferred.
  • 3+ years recent surgical services experience with 2of the 3+ years in a progressive leadership role.
  • Required certifications, all must be from the American Heart Association: BLS, ACLS and PALS.
  • Knowledgeable of federal, state, and local requirements and regulations regarding hospitals and patient care and ensure unit operations meet applicable standards.
  • Strong ability to collaborate, communicate, negotiate and interact with patients and staff.
  • Ability to read, write, understand and communicate effectively in English as demonstrated through effective verbal and written communication.
  • Strong leadership skills.
