Manager responsibility for the Division of Nursing Services. To serve as a visible role model for the Nursing profession and Nursing's role in providing quality patient care services. Responsible to bring vision and direction in the following strategic areas: 1. Outcome monitoring and quality improvement in patient care 2. Promotion of a structured professional relationship among and between the medical staff, the nursing staff, and ancillary services. 3. Retention and recruitment of nurses and other patient care professionals 4. Staff development for individuals involved in patient care through self-improvement in education and experience. Minimum 5 years bedside nursing experience in the past 10 years. Two years of nursing management or Charge Nurse experience highly preferred. Education level necessary to obtain required licensure and certifications. BSN required. Ability to directly supervise professional nursing staff and ancillary nursing personnel through direct observation, review of documentation, and feedback from others. Ability to work effectively with others within the nursing department and those outside nursing. General knowledge of personnel administration as it relates to the selection, motivation, and disciplining of employees. General knowledge of administrative and educational principles and practices involved in nursing administration. Skilled in report preparation and performance evaluations. General knowledge of policy and procedures. Ability to communicate effectively and respectfully. General knowledge of budgets. CA RN, BLS and ACLS required.
Founded in 1956, Bakersfield Memorial Hospital was created to meet the needs of our community, and has grown from a small local facility to a large regional hospital serving all of Kern County. Today, we have more than 400 general acute beds, nearly 50 intensive care and cardiovascular recovery units, 13 state-of-the-art surgical suites, a full-service ER with nationally certified Stroke Center and the Central CA Heart Institute. In addition, we offer newly expanded birthing suites, a family care center, a 31 bed NICU, a 20 bed Pediatric unit, a full complement of diagnostic laboratory and imaging services and an outpatient surgery center.
