This position is accountable for directing all operations of Patient Services at Community Hospital of San Bernardino, including the Emergency Department, Intensive Care Units, Medical /Surgical Units, Telemetry, Surgical Service, and Maternal Child Health Services.
This position also has the authority, responsibility, and accountability for all nursing services and functions within CHSB; including overall strategic planning related to nursing services. The Chief Nurse Officer will ensure that the Nursing Standard of Practice and Nursing Standard of Care are consistent across patient care services and meet all regulatory requirements.
The Chief Nursing Officer will represent Community Hospital of San Bernardino at state and national Nurse Executive conferences and functions. The demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with other Executives, Medical Staff, and Board Members to insure that quality patient care is delivered in a cost-effective manner is an expectation.
At least fifteen (15) years nursing experience with at least ten (10) years management experience in an acute care hospital. Must be knowledge of current leadership, management and quality improvement concepts and the ability to participate in developing and implementing organizational strategies to address opportunities to improve the delivery of patient/nursing care.
Master’s Degree in Nursing or a related field REQUIRED.
There should be documented training that indicates: (1) Progressive demonstrated knowledge of current theoretical approaches to the delivery of safe and effective patient care. (2) Working knowledge of finance theory, budgeting and accounting principles, and operations of house wide nursing service areas in an acute care hospital setting, (3) Working understanding of Risk Management theory and practice, Joint Commission standards, and Title 22 regulations, (4) Demonstrated knowledge ofHealth Insurance Law including MCS, MediCal and Healthy Family Healthcare Law, Community Health Theory and Practice, Healthcare Information Systems.
