Job Duties

UCLA Midwives are looking for a full-time partner in their private practice. Our practice is based on the provision of the midwifery model of care. Our practice sites include prenatal care at UCLA Medical Plaza and intrapartum/postpartum care of women at UCLA Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center. The OB/GYN physicians and hospital staff support midwifery and practicing here is conflict-free and satisfying.

Key aspects of this job include:
Providing perinatal care to women/families with expectations for minimal intervention.
Working/interacting effectively with community childbirth educators and doulas.
Supervising interns and residents.
Possessing excellent clinical and communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively.

Job Qualifications

Required Licensures & Other Training: Active license to practice as a registered nurse in the State of California. Success completion of a Master's level Nurse Midwifery program that is recognized and certified through the American College of Nurse-Midwives (ACNM) and the California Board of Registered Nursing. NM license and ACNM certification. BCLS and Neonatal Resuscitation Certification.

Other required qualifications include the following: Ability to function under the Certified Nurse Midwife Practice Guidelines which have been established and annually reviewed. Skill in comparing/inspecting patient care and judging whether it is similar to or different from prescribed standards. Ability to speak on a one-to-one basis to persons of various social, cultural, economic or educational backgrounds, using appropriate vocabulary and grammar to obtain information, explain policies and procedures, provide information or resolve conflicts. Skill in prioritizing assignments to complete work in a timely manner when there are changes in workload, changes in assignments, pressures of deadlines, competitive requirements and/or a heavy workload. Skill in working independently and following through on assignments with minimal supervision. Skill in working with frequent interruptions and distractions, under conditions of fluctuating workload. Skill in using word processors and mainframe systems on IBM compatible PCs.
