Job Duties

Overall Responsibilities:
Facilitate peer review and process improvement with the Medicine and Pediatric Surgery Departments.   
Administrative Duties
PLANNING/ORGANIZING/IMPLEMENTING Performs day-to-day quality improvement activities in accordance with          accreditation standards, regulatory requirements, and organizational          Performance improvement. Collaborates with Medical Staff and Hospital Departmental personnel to implement PI activities utilizing FOCUS PDCA and LEAN principles to improve processes. Collaborates with outside entities such as vendors and quality improvement organizations to assure adherence to the specifications and deadlines. Participates in performing prospective, concurrent and retrospective patient          case reviews. Performs the collection, reporting, aggregation and analysis of pertinent PI, Registry and Peer Review data, meeting all deadlines. Provides minutes and peer review scoring to departments and Medical Staff   Office as necessary.
Identifies and involves appropriate stakeholders when planning, organizing, and            implementing change. Supports and educates staff to consistently demonstrate behaviors which             supports PI and patient safety. Utilizes effective time management skills and sets priorities appropriately and            modifies them as necessary.
QUALITY Plans, implements, evaluates and communicates PI activities to promote quality          and patient safety. Participates in the development of hospital quality management activities and            projects. Coordinates implementation of systematic monitoring and evaluation activities. Communicates results of monitoring activities to appropriate entities. Provides consultation and education to all disciplines as needed regarding PI, Registry, Peer Review and related activities. Participates in hospital-wide committees and projects relating to quality          management and peer review. Demonstrates a high level of personal commitment to PI principles by displaying            a positive, courteous, and professional manner in relationships with others. Initiates strategies and activities for interdisciplinary collaboration to enhance            Effectiveness and efficiency of patient care management. Demonstrates a working knowledge of all laws, regulations and standards            related to area(s) of responsibility; and ensures compliance with same.
Provides leadership and direction in identifying, designing, implementing,            evaluating and coordinating PI, Registry and Peer Review activities. Provides feedback to the Director of Quality & Patient Safety on an ongoing            basis regarding performance deficiencies as they occur.   Initiates            a plan of corrective action, and provides compete and timely documentation as            necessary. Demonstrates an ability to adjust to changes in the work plan, schedules, and            role expectations in a positive and professional manner. Consistently encourages and facilitates open communication within areas of            responsibility and throughout UCLA Health System. Develops and maintains effective, open relationships with medical staff leaders            relevant to areas of responsibility. Both personally and through staff, demonstrates a willingness to assume            additional responsibilities, volunteer ideas and functions as part of the UCLA Health System.

Job Qualifications


Graduate from an accredited school of nursing. BSN strongly preferred. CA RN License
Minimum 2 years acute care experience
Minimum 2 years quality and Patient Safety
