The Wound Care Nurse integrates education, research, leadership and consultation into clinical practice to enhance quality and continuity of care. Will follow established nursing objectives, standards, policies and procedures in administering nursing care. Will practice within the defined scope of practice for the Registered Nurse and commit to provide safe, quality nursing care in the area of ostomy, wound and continence. Will manage a patient case load, confer with healthcare professionals and develop ostomy, skin care and continence protocols. Will create individualized treatment plans for inpatients and outpatients, pre-operative and post operative, as consulted by the physician. Responsible for hands-on patient assessment, planning, evaluation and intervention as well as the education of both patient and family as it relates to acute & chronic wound, ostomy and continence protocols. This position requires a self starter who can lead the wound care program and develop nursing staff skills in ostomy, wound and skin care for optimal patient care.
