Position Overview

The Wound Care Nurse integrates education, research, leadership and consultation into clinical practice to enhance quality and continuity of care. Will follow established nursing objectives, standards, policies and procedures in administering nursing care. Will practice within the defined scope of practice for the Registered Nurse and commit to provide safe, quality nursing care in the area of ostomy, wound and continence. Will manage a patient case load, confer with healthcare professionals and develop ostomy, skin care and continence protocols. Will create individualized treatment plans for inpatients and outpatients, pre-operative and post operative, as consulted by the physician. Responsible for hands-on patient assessment, planning, evaluation and intervention as well as the education of both patient and family as it relates to acute & chronic wound, ostomy and continence protocols. This position requires a self starter who can lead the wound care program and develop nursing staff skills in ostomy, wound and skin care for optimal patient care.


Key Position Qualifications

  • Associates Degree of Nursing (ADN); Bachelor Degree of Nursing (BSN) or MSN preferred
  • Active Oklahoma RN license
  • 2 years experience in oncology and/or medical-surgical related nursing
  • Experience in infusion therapy-related skills (peripheral and central lines)
  • Current CPR certification
  • Membership and active involvement in the Wound, Ostomy & Continence Nursing Society (WOCNS) preferred
  • ONS chemotherapy certification preferred
  • WOCN certification (wound, ostomy & continence nurse) strongly preferred after completion of an accredited program
  • Membership and active involvement in AWCA strongly preferred
  • Membership and active involvement in ONS preferred * Excellent communication and organizational skills
