Functions as a member of the patient care delivery team as directed by the RN, Physician and/or CRNA in the patient care setting, participates in responsibilities to ensure unit readiness and is member of emergency response team. May Provide appropriate instrumentation for obstetrical surgical cases and function in an OB scrub role.
High school diploma or equivalent and additional education after high school to meet requirements for state licensure or Graduate of an accredited school of Surgical Technology or completion of PHSW Obstetrical Technician I training.
One year as CNA or LPN in acute care hospital or surgery center (or may have equivalent combination of education and/or experience) or 0 to 1 year hospital surgical technologist or obstetrical technician experience (or may have equivalent combination of education and/or experience).
WA State Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) or WA State Surgical Technologist (ST) registration
Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers
Good oral and interpersonal communication skills
Strong medical terminology
Strong organization skills
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment independently or as part of a team
Ability to prioritize verbal instructions from multiple sources
Desire and/or ability to provide surgical assistance to OB patient
Must be detail oriented with strong problem solving skills
Knowledge of patient charting processes
Work requires the ability to lift objects weighing 50 lbs or less
Associates Degree in Operating Room Technology
Surgical Tech/OB Tech experience
Two years hospital-related surgical technologist or obstetrical technician experience
This position will be filled as either an Obstetrical Tech I or II depending on qualifications.
If filled as an Obstetrical Tech I, candidate must be willing to train for Obstetrical Technologist II role with ability/desire to complete competency as specified by department leadership for WA State Surgical Technologist Registration (ST).
