Department:Telemetry (2215)

Continuously exemplifies the mission, values and customer service philosophy of PeaceHealth in job performance and in relationships to others.  To observe oscilloscopes consistently and continuously.  Identifies and interprets arrhythmia accurately and responds appropriately, in collaboration with professional nurse. Must be able to pass a rhythm interpretation test with 80% on hire.  Must be able to pass a lethal rhythm interpretation test with 100% on hire.

1. Supports SJMC mission and philosophy.
2. Performs assigned tasks within SJMC policy and legal guidelines.
3. Observes oscilloscopes consistently and continuously.  Identifies and interprets arrhythmia accurately.
4. Reports any significant positive or negative changes in the patient’s monitor to the appropriate persons.
5. Performs clerical duties as assigned, including processing of admissions, discharges, and transfers and physician order entry.
6. Has complete understanding of hospital fire and safety procedures as contained in the fire and safety manual and as pertains to the unit.  Demonstrates competence in drills and in attitude.
7. Responds, at all time, to patient confidentiality using complete discretion when discussing patient matters.
8. Acts as patient advocate.
9. Practices cost effective use of supplies.
10. Conducts with restraint social conversations within work setting.  Confines phone calls to breaks and lunchtime.
11. Promotes a safety conscious work force and maintains good housekeeping practices.
12. Demonstrates the ability to assess, plan, implement and evaluate individual patient care appropriate to the age of patients served by demonstrating knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span.
13. Communicates appropriately with the person served regardless of their age.
14. Performs other duties as required or assigned.
• High school diploma or equivalent required. 
• Basic arrhythmia class is required.
• Experience as a Monitor Technician or completed course for Monitor Technician is required.
• BLS certification is required.
• Ability to consistently maintain positive working relationships with others is required.
• General computer skill is required.
