Job Purpose and Responsibilities:
The Charge Nurse is a team member in a leadership capacity under the direction of the manager. The Charge Nurse assists the manager in coordinating unit activities, which assure optimal patient care. The Charge Nurse supports and directs staff members in providing compassionate care and services to patients and families from diverse ethnic and social groups. Assures effective utilization of resources. Independent decision-making is expected in the execution of routine duties. Collaborative professional teamwork will include contact with patients, families, visitors, physicians, co-workers, ancillary staff and volunteers.
Major responsibilities included but not limited to:
- Supervision and assessment of clinical practice.
- Performance evaluations.
- Facilitating staff orientation.
- Collaborates with other departments in meeting the needs of patients, families and other health care providers.
- Coordinates staffing for the next shift.
- Coordinates daily department flow to assure timely and optimal care.
Graduate of an accredited State Board of nursing approved program. BSN preferred. Specialty certification preferred.
Current Registered Nurse licensure in the state of Oregon required.
One-year CURRENT experience as an Emergency department staff nurse.
