Advanced Practice Nursing position is available:
Nurse Practitioner – UROLOGY DEPARTMENT
Master’s Degree (MSN) from a program accredited by the NLNAC or CCNE;
Current, unrestricted RN and Nurse Practitioner license issued by any U.S. State;
Current Nurse Practitioner Certification from the American Nurses Association (ANA).
The certification must be in the specialty of Adult or Family Nurse Practitioner for this position.
ACLS and BCLS are required.
• 5 plus years of clinical nursing experience
• 1 to 3 years of Nurse Practitioner experience.
• Experience in Medical/Surgical/Urology Nursing
• Urodynamic Testing and Certification
• Experience as first assist in the Operating Room
• Tour of Duty: 8am to 4:30pm (with rotation)
The Urology Nurse Practitioner will diagnose and treat a patient’s urologic health problems; perform histories, physicals and health assessments; case manage, coordinate, document and deliver care. He/she will provide education and counseling to patients and families about genito-urinary conditions; order and execute medical regimens; and perform procedures, such as urinary catheterization; participate in the interdisciplinary health care team and as a resource and consultant; and serve on hospital committees to plan and implement the health care needs of consumers. The candidate will demonstrate leadership, experience and creative approaches to the management complex vulnerable populations. Requires flexibility in schedule assignments, as this is a 24/7 hospital. Functions as a licensed independent provider in Urology. Experience as a Nurse Practitioner in Adult Health, Women’s Health/GYN, or Family Practice is preferred. Participates in Outreach and In-reach events and serves as a clinical leader of specialty nursing practice. Collaborates with the inter-professional team to provide and improve care for women veterans. Participates in Interdisciplinary Planning – Discharge Conferences. Cares for patients from age 18 through adulthood and geriatrics; Responsibilities include ordering diagnostic and laboratory test; leading and organizing care to assure continuity peer accountability. Access to care and discharge planning. Uses advanced clinical knowledge/judgment to promote staff involvement in planning, decision-making, and evaluating outcomes. Functions as an expert in gento-urology clinical practice and/or areas related to the assigned roles and responsibilities. Systematically evaluates current practices, and formulates outcome or groups of patients and/or organizational processes within an area of expertise. Guides, develops and supports staff from a leadership perspective. Uses professional standard of care and practice and scientific evidence to evaluate programs and/or service activities.
