CATH LAB RN PRN candidates w/ PCI certification strongly preferred, must live within 30 minutes
MUST LIVE WITHIN 30 MINUTES AND DO 14 DAYS OF CALL
The person in this position will be a Licensed Registered Professional Nurse, who, under the supervision of the Director of Cardiology Services and the physician, and within the framework of the Nurse Practice Act of the State of Florida, performs specialized nursing care in all phases of tile Cardiovascular Laboratory, also known as tile Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory. This includes, assessing the history, physical and psychosocial status of the patient. Develops and implements nursing orders based oil the information received and performs both the technical and professional aspects of cardiac catheterization. Efficiently reports information to the appropriate people to maintain continuity of care.
In addition to providing care to the Cardiovascular Lab patient, this nurse will also have the additional role as the Radiology nurse, functioning in that capacity whenever his/her duties are completed in the Cardiovascular Lab. When taking "call' for the purpose of emergencies, he/she will respond for "call cases of both Cardiac Cath patients as well as Interventional Radiology patients.
This RN will provide safe and effective nursing care to all patients utilizing the nursing process. The registered nurse also is responsible for the direction and supervision of assigned personnel delivering said patient care.. Hours for duty are 7A-7P, three days per week, alternating with another RN with same hrs. to provide 5 day per week coverage. The director of the department has to right at any time to change the three (3) 12 hr shifts back to five (5) 8 hr shifts at any time if case load volume does not warrant 12 shifts, or if staffing needs necessitate the change. The nurse on the 12 hr shift will also be on call for that day, unless prior arrangements have been made with other staff members. Weekend and holiday call will be alternated with all radiology staff nurses to provide coverage at all times. In addition to providing care to the Cardiovascular Lab patient, and the Radiology patient, this nurse will also have the additional role of manning the physiologic recorder, thus monitoring the patient, and recording the case in its entirety to include all hemodynamics, ECG's, calculations and chronological logs. This person will also be required to have knowledge of cineangiography and the processing of cine film.
This RN will provide safe and effective nursing care to all patients utilizing the nursing process. The recording nurse also is responsible for the direction and supervision of all personnel delivering said patient care during a cardiac catheterization.
1. Graduate from an accredited school of nursing.
Minimum of 3 - 5 years of nursing experience preferred, 2 yrs required 1 of which must be in an ICU, CCU, or Cath Lab
1. Current Florida Nursing License
2. Current American Heart Association or American Red Cross Basic
Life Support card. (BLS)
3. Current ACLS.
4. Basic EKG course required, 12 Lead Course preferred.
5. Completion of Intra Aortic Balloon Course.
6. In lieu of IAB course, one year documented experience with IABC is required
7. CCRN certification preferred but not mandatory.
The registered professional nurse is responsible for the direct and indirect total nursing care of his/her assigned patients. He/She is also responsible for the supervision of assigned personnel. The position requires intimate knowledge of both department and hospital policies and procedures relevant to the delivery of nursing care. Interpretive skills, frequent interactive and consultative associations, along with management and supervisory skills are inherent in the position. The ability to retrieve, communicate, or otherwise present information in a written, auditory, or visual fashion is essential. The primary method to express or exchange ideas is through the spoken word. Written, telephone, and manual dexterity skills are required for the position.
