Job Description:
  • Immediately responds to emergencies or acute changes in patient.
  • Communicates patient care needs with physicians and plans for appropriate interventions.
  • Functions as a preceptor or facilitates educational offerings within the Department.
  • Addresses all patient/family or physician concerns immediately.
  • Demonstrates respect and appreciation through attitude and communication for all Staff within the maternal/child units.
  • Maintains working area and equipment in accordance with environmental and safety regulations.
  • Anticipates and reports the need for equipment and supplies.
  • Assures all quality controls are performed as required.
  • Develops, updates and implements an interdisciplinary age-specific patient Plan of Care utilizing and integrating all available relevant patient data in accordance with Pediatric Unit Standards and Scope of Care and Practice.
  • Modifies interview techniques to adequately assess physical, psychosocial and educational needs unique to all age groups and families.
  • Completes Admission Assessment within eight (8) hour of admission according to Unit Standards of Care and Practice.
  • Reassesses patients every four (4) hours, with change in condition, transfer and discharge according to Unit Standards of Care.
  • Completes full post-operative and post-procedure assessment within thirty (30) minutes of return to the Pediatric Unit.


  • Current FL RN License
  • BLS and PALS required
  • 2-3 years of recent Pediatrics experience
  • 1-3 years of supervisor or charge experience
  • Customer service abilities including effective listening skills
  • Critical thinking skills
  • Ability to perform work that requires frequent standing, bending, reaching, squatting, kneeling, moving, lifting of patients and/or equipment up to 50lb
