Job Description:

The Patient Placement/Nursing Coordinator assumes accountability for placement of patients into available beds 24 hours/7 days a week as the primary job function. Coordinator assumes administrative responsibility from 5:00 PM to 7:30AM including weekends/holidays. The coordinator serves as a liaison between administration and staff during off-business hours of operation and assists unit personnel in problem solving, interpretation of institutional policies and procedures, and coordination of patient care services. Allocates staffing provided by Supplemental Staffing based on inpatient unit requirements and acuity. Coordinator collaborates with Nurse Managers to assure that decisions are consistent with unit and divisional goals. Represents hospital administration and assists the Administrator-on-call in resolving those problems which require immediate attention of the on-site administrator.

Active license in the State of Maryland. A Bachelor's in Nursing is preferred. Three to five years of nursing work experience in a Critical Care unit is required. Understanding and demonstration of basic computer programs such as word and excel. Knowledge of policies and procedures related to hospital emergency codes and disaster plan is needed for resolving administrative and clinical matters. Communication and customer service skills critical in the role.
