Education: RN: Graduation from an accredited school of nursing with an ADN, Diploma, BSN or MSN

Experience: RN: Minimum of 2 years nursing experience in an acute care setting, Cardiac care/ICU nursing experience desired.

License/Certification: Current Colorado Registered Nurse Licensure, ACLS and BLS certification required within 90 day orientation period, ACSM desired.



Other required skills and abilities: Clinical skills — ability to interpret diagnostic summaries, labs, tests; patient assessment and evaluation as applied to the care of patients with cardiopulmonary disease. Knowledge & experience in cardiac anatomy, physiology, pathophysiology and psychosocial aspects of cardiopulmonary disease. Experience in patient/adult education, cardiopulmonary risk factor modification, behavioral management. Basic 12 Lead EKG and arrhythmia interpretation and ACLS certification (within 6 months of hire date). Basic Computer Skills needed. Ability to role model healthy lifestyle.



JOB SUMMARY: Under the general supervision of the unit manager, a nurse in this position performs Cardiopulmonary Rehab and/or wellness programs independently. Cardiac rehab occurs in both the inpatient and outpatient settings. Patient care is based on focused patient case management which includes clinical assessment & evaluation of patient upon entering cardiac rehab, appropriate program development (exercise prescription, educational plan, risk factor modification & psychosocial intervention). Works collaboratively with other team members and physicians in patient care. Is responsible for independent projects and educational development, and for managing the daily patient program upkeep, education schedules and class size.
