We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Nurse Coordinator for the Ventricular Assistive Device (VAD) Program.To qualify you must have a Master's Degree in Nursing, current ACLS and BLS certification with the American Heart Association and at least 5 years of med-surg nursing experience. A Nurse Practitioner in Acute Care is required. Excellent critical thinking and strong interpersonal and communication skills are a must. Membership and participation in pertinent professional organizations and certification in critical care nursing are desirable.
This position collaborates with the Director of the Heart Failure Program, Cardiothoracic Director of the VAD Program, Senior Director of Nursing for Cardiac and Surgery and, Vice president for Operations to establish priorities and to develop long and short-term patient care planning to realize positive outcomes.
Responsibilities include participating in the evaluation and screening of patients for a VAD, supporting service and unit level leadership by providing clinical and resource assistance in the management of these patients, working collaboratively with the interdisciplinary team, and following up with patients in the outpatient setting. The VAD Coordinator is available for the perioperative phases of implantation, and engages in troubleshooting when necessary. Assisting in the development, implementation and evaluation of the clinical program structure, process and outcome standards. Some on-call is required. Temporary position 6-9 months available.
