The Licensed Practical Nurse administers nursing care according to the plan of care to terminally ill patients admitted to the VITAS  program, in accordance with the Nurse Practice Act in the state where the VITAS program is located.


  • Provides direct skilled bedside nursing care.
  • Evaluates patient /family needs in the preparation and executions of the interdisciplinary plan of care for each patient on the team and the effectiveness of treatments and monitors patients reactions.
  • Performs selected acts in care of the terminally ill under the direct supervision of a registered nurse; such acts include the administration of treatments and medications.
  • Participates in Nurse LPN on- call rotation/schedule in order to meet the needs of patients and families.



This is a full-time LVN position providing patient care on the Intensive Comfort Care Team--covering patient care throughout Orange County, CA.

  • Must have at least one (1) year working experience as an LVN.
  • Preferably two (2) years of satisfactory nursing experience with at least one (1) year in a hospital on an adult medical surgical unit.
  • The per-diem LVN will provide patient care on the Intensive Comfort Care team throughout Orange County.  Qualified candidates will reside in Orange County in order to respond to patient/family needs in a timely manner.
  • The ideal candidate will have a flexible schedule with the ability to work on various days throughout the week and on weekends as needed.  Shifts include some 8am-4pm but mostly 4pm-12am and 12am-8am.
  • Currently licensed as a Licensed Practical Nurse where the VITAS program is located.
  • Completion of course of study as required acquiring LVN licensure in the State of California.
  • Graduate of an approved school of Practical/Vocational nursing required.
