The Certified Diabetes Nurse Educator or Certified Diabetes Educator (CDE) provides nursing care and education to the diabetes population. The Diabetes Nurse Educator or CDE assesses, plans, implements and evaluates the care rendered to the person with diabetes, while working in the parameters of the referring physician. Other duties as assined.
At least 3 years of clinical experience working with diabetes care and education and program development is required.
Experience with diabetes assessment and management is preferred. Certified Diabetes Educator recognition is preferred.
Professional knowledge of nursing theory and practice at a level normally acquired through completion of a minimum of two years education at an accredited School of Nursing in order to be eligible for licensure as a Registered Nurse is required.
Requires current state of Wisconsin Registered Nurse License or a Multi-state Nursing License from a participating state in the NLC (Nurse Licensure Compact). American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support for the Healthcare Provider (BLS) or an AHA approved equivalent is required upon hire.
Any other appropriate job-related licensure/certification.
Must be able to work well alone and with others as a team player.
