Responsible for the total operation of a 48 bed Neuroscience Unit with 12 step down beds. This role supports the hospital's mission, goals and objectives by focusing on the patients, physicians, employees, volunteers and the community as customers. Plans, organizes, directs, coordinates and evaluates activities within the department. Supervises a staff composed of 90 FTE's with the support of an Assistant Nurse Manager and Clinical RN Supervisors. The nurse manager will also ensure compliance with JCAHO standards and other regulatory agencies.
Key requirements and attributes for the position include:
· Experienced Neuroscience and/or Critical Care Registered Nurse with 2 plus years experience in a nursing leadership/management role.
· Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing required, Master’s degree or higher in Nursing preferred.
· Evidence of ability to draw on knowledge from the following areas: Nursing leadership/management, best practices, evidenced-base care, fiscal management, outcome measures, clinical evaluation of patients and nursing workload, performance improvement, service excellence, negotiations and conflict resolution, systems for patient safety, employee mentorship and development.
Specialty Certification in Neuroscience and/or stroke preferred or must be willing to obtain upon hire within a 6-12 month period.
