Job Summary:

Serves as a primary member of the core care delivery team on labor and delivery at a facility performing 5500 deliveries per year. Provides separate and distinct 24/7 coverage of both labor and delivery and OB triage. Key responsibilities include first assisting on OB surgical cases, discharging patients from OB triage, performing vaginal deliveries, managing laboring patients, interpreting maternal fetal strips, writing H & Ps and operating notes, communicating with core care delivery team, conducting L & D board rounds every three hours, supporting resident and medical student education. Position operates in a high intensity, high volume, high acuity, "critical care" environment. Position requires credential and privileging through the Medical Staff of facility. Position works under the auspices of supervising physician.

Job Requirements:

  • Education: Master's Degree in Science with clinical specialization from an accredited institution. State of Michigan nurse specialty certification. Certification through the ACNM.
  • Experience: 1 to 3 years experience as a professional nurse in ob/gyn specialty.
  • Licensure: Registered Nurse licensed to practice in the State of Michigan. Nurse Midwifery License.
  • Skills and Abilities: Strong clinical assessment and management skills. Ability to work with multidisciplinary team members. Good communication skills. Multitask oriented. Ability to interpret fetal monitoring data. BCLS/NRP certification.
