CCRN certification *OR* CHPN certification from the National Board for Certification of Hospice and Palliative Nurses (NBCHPN®) required to be successful in this role.

General Description

Under supervision of the Medical Director for Palliative Care Program, provides co-leadership and management for the palliative / supportive care service. Role is patient/family-focused, outcome oriented, and rooted in evidence-based care delivery within an interdisciplinary practice model.

BSN and Licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN) in the state of Maryland, or eligibility for licensure is required.   A health related Master's degree strongly preferred. Board certification in Hospice and Palliative Care preferred.  

Training in hospice and/or palliative care to include symptom management communication and end-of-life care is required.  One to two years hospice and/or palliative nursing experience preferred.

Knowledge of managed care, discharge planning, utilization and case management is required.  One year of experience in case management and knowledge of payer mechanisms and clinical utilization is preferred.

Excellent analytical and team building skills, as well as the ability to prioritize and work independently is required.  Ability to work with all levels of hospital personnel is essential.
