Division Descriptions: Kidney Transplant Operations
Minimum Requirements: At least three years recent NP experience. Transplant or dialysis experience preferred. Experience providing complex patient education and giving professional presentations. Familiarity with electronic medical records. BSN or MSN required. Current BLS/ACLS Certification. Current CPR Certification.
Responsibilities: The Transplant Coordinator III-NP serves as the primary resource and clinical expert in the care of inpatient kidney transplant recipient as well as inpatient dialysis access patient. The NP has primary responsibility for the day-to-day clinical management of inpatients on the Transplant Surgery Services. Functions as liaison between Transplant Surgery attending physician and the housestaff, and consulting ancillary providers,hospital departments, patient, family, community physician, and insurance companies. The NP also actively participates in the CQI process through the development and implementation of clinical monitors.
Requirements: Possession of valid California RN and NP license, NP Furnishing, DEA and NPI Number. Graduation from an accredited school of nursing and nurse practitioner program. Passing of UCDMC Performance Demonstration, Policy Review and Medication Exam.
Special Requirements: Ability to read, write, speak, and understand the English language and utilize medical terminology appropriately. Knowledge and skills related to transplantation including: care of pre and post-transplant recipient, care of the donor nephrectomy patient, care of the dialysis access patient, and knowledge of immunology and HLA testing and its implications. Ability to set priorities, make independent clinical decisions and organize work in a high paced environment. Ability to stand for extended periods while making rounds and evaluating patients. Able to work for 4 hours without taking a break. Skills to perform CPR. This position is subject to a criminal background investigation.
