Division Descriptions: Pediatric ICU/PCICU
Minimum Requirements: At least two years recent clinical experience in a similar setting. External Candidates: BSN required. Internal Candidates: BSN required or in progress. PICU experience preferred. CPR Certification - PALS preferred.
Responsibilities: Works within the clinical scale of the Job Performance Standards; responsibly performs a wide range of duties as allowed by the Nurse Practice Act. Experience and judgment to determine the importance of a situation, set priorities, and use abstract thought to evaluate clinical situations. Initiates/participates in patient education. Assesses learning needs of CN Is and CN IIs and initiates staff education. Act as a mentor to less experienced nurses. Demonstrates leadership skills.
Requirements: Possession of valid California RN license. Graduation from an accredited school of nursing. Passing of UCDMC Performance Demonstration, Policy Review and Medication Exam.
Special Requirements: Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English language and utilize medical terminology appropriately. Skills, knowledge, and ability to perform functions of Clinical Nurse III job description at a proficient level. Ability to set priorities and work independently. Judgment skills to make independent clinical decisions. Skills to perform CPR. Skill to work accurately and quickly under pressure. Knowledge of medications, indications, dosage ranges, side effects, and potential toxicity. Ability to safely lift 25 lbs. and assist in moving patients, and stand on feet over extended periods. Knowledge of legal implications for clinical practice. Knowledge of, and ability to utilize principles of adult learning. Knowledge of performance improvement and research process.
