To provide continuous safe observation and monitoring of all telemetry patients. Identify and document rhythm or pattern changes from the cardiac monitor in the Telemetry patient.
Minimum Education: High School or equivalent. Documented successful completion of Basic EKG Course or proof of current national certification.
Minimum Experience: 6 months experience as a monitor tech in an acute care setting, or combination of relevant healthcare experience (i.e. PCA/Administrative Partner) and successful completion of EKG Testing, demonstration of exceptional skills attained in the HNMC EKG course with instructor approval to waive work experience requirement or proof of current national certification.
Certification: Current National EKG certification required by 1/1/2011
Skills: The Monitor Tech must be able to prioritize work and duties well and must work well under stressful situations. They have to demonstrate good communication and customer service skills with a variety of patients, physicians, and other health care providers both internal and external to the organization, and must make accurate clinical decisions and judgments quickly.
