1.Function as an expert clinician/practitioner for a select group of patients. Provide direct care to select patients/families as an expert clinician/role model. 2. Enhance the quality of patient care by providing consultation to care providers. Consult with nursing staff and members of the health care team on patient/family issues. Act as a patient advocate by consulting with the health care team to ensure that mutually determined outcomes are achieved. 3. Support and participate in research activities. Read, interpret, and evaluate research for utilization in practice. 4. Facilitate continuing education and orientation of nursing staff. Assess learning needs of nursing staff, and develop educational strategies to meet those needs. 5. Demonstrate effective leadership skills when planning, problem solving and evaluating.
6. Demonstrate accountability for own scholarly and professional activities. Participate in appropriate committees and task forces.
