Overview: Provides individualized, culture-specific patient care by attending to the personal needs and comfort of patients, under the supervision of a Registered Nurse. Assists the professional or licensed nurse as delegated in tasks requiring less technical skills. Participates in shift and bedside report, performs phlebotomist duty, clerical/reception unit duties as assigned, and assists in promoting an organized, efficient, smoothly functioning unit. Participates and supports regional, facility, department, and unit initiatives.
Special Skills: Excellent customer service skills; basic computer skills. Strong interpersonal and communication skills to interact positively and effectively with patients, visitors and health care team members. Knowledge of patient rights, aseptic/sterile technique and infection control best practices.
Minimum Requirements: High School Diploma or equivalent GED. One year experience in acute care setting as nursing assistant or certified CNA or nurse extern (completed block one/first year of nursing school). Current Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) license or meet minimum experience requirements; CPR. Patient Care Assistant Program; EKG training in selected units. Must be able to complete blood draws independently.
