Nurses Aide (PCT)
Under direction of licensed staff (Nurse and/or Physical/Occupational Therapist), assists with the provision of patient care safely transferring/transporting patients in & out of nursing units using proper body mechanics When directed and available, assists nursing staff with patient care. Provides assistance in a variety of roles to include coordination and provision of general patient care, clerical functions and the obtaining of laboratory specimens including venous and capillary blood, urine, and stool samples. May assist in positioning, lifting, transferring, preparing and using special equipment and patients. Maintains equipment and facility in good working order. Collaborates with other members of the interdisciplinary health team to provide quality care.
High school graduate or GED required.
State Nurse’s Aide Certification, graduate of a phlebotomy, medical technician, patient care technician or equivalent program preferred. Previous experience, preferably in a hospital setting, or completion of a training course specifically designed for rehabilitation or orthopedic technicians desirable Technical or clerical training and knowledge of medical terminology preferred. General knowledge of EKG's and computer monitoring systems and ability to troubleshoot telemetry equipment preferred. Assignment to EKG Roles may require successful completion of EKG training course designed for monitor technicians and EKG technicians or proof of completion of EKG training course within 45 days. Assignment to OB Units requires one year maternal-child surgical procedure assistant work experience. BLS required within 30 days of hire.
