The Registered Nurse is a practitioner who is responsible for assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating nursing care for an identified group of primary patients according to Community Memorial Hospital's professional practice model. This individual demonstrates increasing competency in delivery of care to a primarily adult population. This position is responsible for triaging of cancer care patients which includes phone symptom management, providing prescription refills, completing medication prior authorizations and face to face clinic intervention. The Cancer Care Triage RN has become a necessary role in providing safe and efficient care. This requires a knowledgeable clinical person with expertise in oncology patient issues to perform this role. Additional triage duties include; thorough documentation of care, order entry directed by the providers and coordination of multidisciplinary appointments (i.e. lab, radiology, supportive referrals). Other duties as assigned.
A minimum of 2 years of direct patient care in a medical/surgical setting is required. Minimum of 1 year of experience in oncology or a procedural area is required.
Professional knowledge of nursing theory and practice at a level normally acquired through completion of a minimum of two years education at an accredited School of Nursing in order to be eligible for licensure as a Registered Nurse is required.
Requires current state of Wisconsin Registered Nurse License or a Multi-state Nursing License from a participating state in the NLC (Nurse Licensure Compact). American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support for the Healthcare Provider (BLS) or an AHA approved equivalent is required. Oncology nursing certification is required within two years of hire date.
