This position is focused on Emergency Room Education.
Integrates the overlapping roles of consultant, leader, educator, researcher and advanced practitioner. Works in collaboration with nursing leadership, nurse educators and other professional practice specialists to identify and grow caring practices that enhance the wellness of patients, families, caregivers and systems.
Assists in the collaborative development and implementation of a variety of programs including but not limited to competency based orientation, programs of care for specific patient populations, ongoing education/training and competency assessment.
Serves as a consult to other nurses and healthcare professionals in assessing the needs of and planning care for patients and families.
Serves as a role model in the provision of patient care through professional behaviors and the application of advanced clinical skills.
Collaborates with the unit managers and director to establish and evaluate the standards of nursing practice (at the nurse, unit and organizational level), communicates these standards to the nursing personnel on the units, changes standards as necessary, follows up on discrepancies with the manager and individual caregiver as necessary and facilitates translation of evidence into practice.
Serves as a leader in the provision of evidence-based care through the interpretation and dissemination of research findings and quality data to the staff.
Performs other related duties as may be assigned.
Master’s degree in nursing as an Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS), Advanced Nurse Practitioner (APN) or Clinical Nurse Leader (CNL) or a graduate degree (masters or doctorate) with a post-masters certificate as a CNS, APN or CNL from an accredited school of nursing
Minimum of five years of experience as an RN required. Minimum of three years progressive experience in applicable clinical area. Experience as a CNS, CNL, APN preferred (or may have equivalent combination of education and/or experience). Emergency room exp required
WA State RN and ARNP licensure with Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers. If CNL, current CNL certification required. Board Certification as a APRN in applicable patient population preferred.
Proficient in the use of MS Office applications and a variety of equipment or technology tools. Ability to engage learners and apply adult learning techniques.
