Senior Public Health Nurse $76,305 - $92,772 Annually
The Sonoma County Department of Health Services is seeking qualified candidates to fill one (1) Senior Public Health Nurse (PHN) vacancy which may be filled on a full-time (1.0 FTE) or part-time (.75 FTE) basis.
Under direction, a Senior PHN exercises technical and functional oversight in an assigned public health nursing program; assists in the development, implementation, evaluation, and oversight of community public health services; and provides specialized services within an established program area. Senior PHNs are assigned to various programs throughout the Public Health Division. The Senior PHN classification requires possession of a California State Public Health Nursing Certificate.
Education and Experience: One year of experience equivalent to the Sonoma County class of Public Health Nurse II.
Two years of public health nursing experience obtained after receipt of a California Public Health Nursing Certificate.
Possession of a California State Public Health Nursing Certificate.
Driver’s License: Possession of a valid driver's license at the appropriate level including necessary special endorsements, as required by the State of California, may be required depending upon assignment to perform the essential job functions of the position.
Working Conditions: Duties may require exposure to hostile, emotionally disturbed or mentally ill persons and/or confrontational interpersonal situations; intermittently sit at a desk for long periods of time while reviewing patient charts and histories and preparing patient charts and reports; intermittently walk, stand, bend, climb and reach while making field visits, conducting clinics or making educational presentations or demonstrations; twist to reach equipment surrounding desk or treatment areas; perform simple grasping and fine manipulation; use telephone and write or use a keyboard to communicate through written means; see and hear with sufficient acuity to examine and assess patient conditions; lift moderate weight; may work in dangerous, high crime areas of the community; and/or standby, callback and work during non-routine hours.
Supervising Staff Nurse $81,022 - $98,491 Annually
The Sonoma County Department of Health Services (DHS) is seeking qualified candidates to fill one (1) full-time Supervising Staff Nurse vacancy in the Behavioral Health Division.
The Supervising Staff Nurse in the Behavioral Health Division will oversee all aspects of acute psychiatric hospital liaison and utilization review (UR) activities to assure Medi-Cal managed care dollars are being utilized appropriately and effectively. Utilization review entails conducting clinical and medical reviews in various hospitals/facilities to which patients are referred from DHS, assessing use of such facilities, and evaluating patients' need to stay or transition to another program.
Education: Any combination of education or training that would provide the opportunity to acquire the knowledge and abilities listed. Normally, graduation from an accredited college or university with a degree in nursing would provide such opportunity.
Experience: Any combination of training and experience that will provide the opportunity to acquire the skills, knowledge and abilities listed. Normally, two years of related experience as a Registered Nurse would provide this opportunity. One year supervisory experience is desirable.
License: Possession of a valid California license as a Registered Nurse, as required by Title 22, current CPR certification.
