Within a clinical trial setting, the successful candidate will be responsible for traveling up to 50-75% of their time (domestic and international) to various clinical hospital settings globally to support patient treatment efforts to deliver ELAD therapy. On average, the first three months of employment is a preceptorship which includes intensive training on the ELAD system and clinical research both in a classroom and ICU clinical setting. Additionally, there are extensive credentialing requirements for the ELAD Specialist to gain access into our 50+ clinical hospitals, which includes background checks, drug tests, HIPAA testing, immunization records and other required training and documentation. The ELAD Specialist preceptorship position is an hourly position, and once completed, the candidate will be eligible to be promoted to a Senior ELAD Specialist position as a salaried employee who can work independently at our clinical sites during patient treatment.
The (Sr) ELAD Specialist does not administer direct patient care, but is responsible at the patient bedside for maintaining the ELAD system and preserving the efficacy of our proprietary liver cells during the treatment of patients. The successful candidate will have experience in critical care nursing or perfusion, often in the ICU or OR setting, where they have developed strong critical thinking and technical skills in a fast paced healthcare environment. They will also have hands on technical experience with equipment used in the critical care settings, such as ECMO, dialysis, ventilators or similar equipment/devices. Candidate must be able to work and communicate in a team environment. We will give preference to candidates who are bilingual in Spanish or German.
