This is a grant funded position through Connect for Certified Health Colorado Marketplace for Health Coverage Guides at one of our certified Assistance Sites. You must be open to flexible hours from part time up to full time during Open Enrollment periods of October ’13 to March ’14 and again October to December ’14. Our initial funding is through December 2014. You will deliver local, in-person education and help to individuals with applying for health insurance coverage. As a Certified Health Coverage Guide located at one of the Assistance Sites you will provide unbiased assistance with plan evaluation and the health coverage application process. In addition, you will provide outreach and public education about Connect for Health Colorado, the range of health coverage options, and help you determine eligibility for new federal financial assistance, based on income, to reduce the cost of health insurance.
The Eligibility Specialist is responsible for conducting eligibility screenings, assessment of client financial requirements, and counseling patients on private and public medical benefits including insurance benefits and co-payments. The Eligibility Specialist serves as a liaison between the client, physician, community agency, hospital, and governmental agencies; and is actively involved in all areas of benefit navigation and application, care coordination and case management. Potential programs that a client may be eligible for include: Adult Medicaid, Presumptive Eligibility, CHP+, Family Medicaid, Long Term Care, and Emergency Medicaid for undocumented individuals. Some clients may also need assistance with Medicare, Medicare Part D, Medicare Savings Programs, Medicare Part D Low Income Subsidy, SNAP, Pharmaceutical Savings Programs, and other public and private benefit programs.
Education Requirements (i.e., BSN, High School Diploma, GED)
High school graduate or equivalent.
Accurate computer typing skills.
Knowledge of Government eligibility program requirements is highly desirable.
Working knowledge of Outlook computer programs, i.e., Microsoft Excel®.
3 years of hospital/medical/ business office experience with insurance procedures and client interaction. Strong familiarity with a variety of the field’s concepts, practices and procedures. Strong customer service skills. Experience in determining eligibility via the Colorado Benefits Management System preferred.
License/Certifications (i.e., RN, BLS, ACLS)
Current Driver License and Current Insurance.
