Position Summary: Supervises the nursing and ancillary support staff in an ambulatory care setting; including laboratory functions and specialty referrals. Continuously evaluates and monitors clinic flow to ensure an efficient patient visit. Monitors compliance with clinic policies, and regulatory requirements. Provides oversight of the clinical operational quality assurance program. Develops nursing procedures. cost effective ordering of supplies, adherence to emergency procedures, and infection control. Key staff role in the technological implementation of all components of the medical practice.
Position Qualifications: A valid RN license issued by the State of California. Must be a graduate of an accredited school of nursing w/a valid, current CA Registered Nurse license to practice. Be able to communicate tactfully and empathetically, with cultural sensitivity; with staff and patients. Fluently bilingual Spanish and English strongly required, oral and written communication skills demonstrated in both languages. Two years clinical experience as a Registered Nurse, with a minimum of one year of experience in the clinical area assigned. Must demonstrate through written and/or oral testing, the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served and has knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span. He or she is able to identify and categorize each patient’s age specific grouping of needs, such as those for infant, adolescent, adult or geriatric patients. Prior administrative and supervisory experience in an outpatient family practice, internal medicine, pediatrics clinic. Working knowledge of direct outpatient care and management methods and practices in a community clinic setting or similar health care facility and manage clinic nursing services to achieve the delivery of efficient, quality patient care services. Prior experience in a similar setting is preferred. Basic knowledge of local, state and federal regulations relating to care of patients in a clinic setting; and prior experience with county, state and federal programs such as CHDP, FPACT, EWC, Medi-Cal, Managed Care, and Title X is preferred. Demonstrated supervisory skills sufficient to manage up to 15 employees in a medical office, clinic, Knowledge of common safety hazards and precautions sufficient to establish a safe work environment. Demonstrated ability to perform assigned responsibilities with minimum supervision; to maintain quality control standards; to interpret, adapt and apply guidelines and procedures. Skill in identifying problems and recommending solutions in a clear, concise and proactive manner, including recognition and resolution of costly errors. Strong verbal and interpersonal skills sufficient to make presentations. Ability to develop and maintain cooperative relationships with staff members, patients and clinicians and work as a member of a multi-disciplinary team. Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office (specifically Word and Excel) Experience with electronic medical records, preferred. Demonstrated ability to follow set routines and be alert to variations and make decisions accordingly. Ability to maintain organized and accurate records. The flexibility to deal effectively with changes in work schedules and sites. Demonstrated ability to set priorities and organize work responsibilities to insure completion of assigned tasks within agreed upon time span. General computer skills in Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, etc.) and patient medical record system. Current California driver’s license and State-required insurance when using personal vehicle on clinic business and a driving record acceptable to the organization and/or its insurance carrier. Spanish speaker required. Demonstrated sensitivity to relate well with individuals from diverse cultures and lifestyles.
