Where you work matters! Swedish Medical Center is looking for a Full Time Blood Management Specialist to work Days at Swedish.
The Blood Management Specialist develops, implements, coordinates and evaluates bloodless and blood management programs especially as related to regulatory and safety compliance. This position is Monday through Friday day shift with on-call required variable nights and weekends on a rotating basis. This position will be responsible for blood management at the First Hill, Cherry Hill, Issaquah and Ballard campuses.
In this position you will: * Work interdepartmentally and with medical groups to promote safe and effective transfusion therapy * Provide clinical education and consultation with medical and nursing staff in the blood component ordering, transfusion reaction management, and bleeding emergencies * Participate in the investigation and reporting of adverse transfusion reactions * Coordinate and perform audits of the blood administration process * Interview and consent patients into the bloodless program
JOB REQUIREMENTS: Required qualifications for this position include: * Bachelor's degree in Nursing or Medical Technology (if applying as a Medical Technologist, Bachelor's degree with proper MT certification is acceptable) * Bachelor's of Science in Nursing, Washington State Nursing License or MT (ASCP) and/or SBB certification * Minimum 3 years clinical experience in an acute care facility with demonstrated leadership capabilities and an understanding of transfusion practice and testing * Proficient with Microsoft Office applications Preferred qualifications for this position include: * Clinical experience with blood component administration or testing
