The Employee Health Nurse shall be a registered professional nurse who will provide a multi-faceted employee health program of preventative medical care and be responsible for monitoring hospital employees, and volunteer members health related situations. The primary role is to maintain an efficient/flow of processing, tracking, reporting and updating worker's compensation information from start to finish. This includes providing support to the Director of Safety Officer & Risk Management. Must perform a variety of risk management functions in accordance with company policies, strategic objectives, and government regulations. Responsible for the coordination of the Worker's Compensation Plan to prevent and control work related injuries and illness. Provide training and directions to Hospital staff regarding injury/accident reports, worker's compensation claims and return to work program for assigned staff members. Identify and handle very minor injuries, reducing unnecessary medical referrals. Answer questions regarding risk programs including drug testing. Participate initial accident investigations and provide recommendations. Monitor and/or direct claims adjuster activities. Provide policies and procedures. Run and review weekly report. Participate in claim reviews.
Required Job Qualifications include:
- Current licensure as an RN.
- Current certification as a BLS Healthcare Provider and ACLS.
- Graduate of an accredited school of professional nursing.
- Experience in acute care setting required
- Must have experience in Occupational Health/Worker Compensation required
- Prior experience as an Employee Health nurse in a hospital setting preferred
- Customer service abilities including effective listening skills.
- Critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision in a fast paced environment.
