Under the direct supervision of the Registered Nurse, the Nursing Assistant collects and reports patient information and data as directed. The Nursing Assistant helps assigned patients will activities of daily living, including personal hygiene, diet and fluid intake, elimination, skin care, bathing and dressing, positioning, transfers, mobility, and ambulation. Performs selected tasks, such as patient transport, collection of specimens, distribution of linens and supplies to patient rooms, and delivery of ice and beverages to patients as directed. As assigned, stays with at-risk patients to monitor safety. The Nursing Assistant provides care according to hospital procedures in a manner that protects the safety and dignity of patients. Partial access to medications is given to the incumbent of this position because they are required by their job responsibilities to transport or stock medications to approved medication storage locations.
Education: High School Diploma or Equivalent. Graduate of an approved Nurse Aide Training Program.
Experience: One year experience as a Nursing Assistant in an acute care setting preferred.
Skills: Ability to read, write, and speak English and do simple math problems. Previous experience using a personal computer highly desirable.
