The Clinical Educator crosses the entities of Saint Francis by providing staff development expertise as an educator, consultant, facilitator, change agent, leader and researcher. Each role supports the development of the bedside care giver, and fosters empowerment through knowledge to achieve excellence through the delivery of evidenced based clinical and nursing practice. This occurs by the facilitation of the educational process through assessment, development, planning, implementation and evaluation of competency assessment, continuing education and leadership development. In addition, as a role model of professional behavior, the Clinical Educator assists the department to create a professional nursing climate within Saint Francis. The Clinical Educator meets the needs of the diverse units within the Saint Francis Medical Center and the global needs of Saint Francis Medical Center patient care units. Works in consultation and collaboration with clinical leadership and the Health Care Team to identify and meet global needs of patient care units, multi-disciplinary teams, committees, and task forces.
Education: MS in Nursing required, however, will consider well-qualified candidates with a BSN with teaching experience who are actively pursuing a Master's degree. Will also consider clinical staff from other disciplines with appropriate credentials.
Certification: CNE certification preferred.
Experience: Three to 5 years recent clinical experience in an acute care setting required. Formal teaching, or comparable experience required.
Licensure: Current registered nurse (RN) licensure or other discipline-appropriate licensure in Connecticut.
Skills: Computer literacy, i.e., competent using web-based applications, e-mail, and standard word and data applications such as Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and Power Point
Demonstrated organizational, leadership, communication (written and verbal) competence.
Problem solving and conflict resolution skills. Ability to serve as professional role model.
