JOB SUMMARY: The PACU RN Clinical Coordinator is a registered nurse who is recognized for their clinical expertise and knowledge in a specific specialty area(s) of peri operative nursing. The RN Clinical Coordinator’s role is designed to facilitate the organization of specialty services with complex patient care needs, high tech equipment, and specialized supply needs as well as orientation within the designated specialty(s). They will serve as a clinical resource person for the PACU staff. The duties will include assisting the director and manager with physician requests of instrumentation and providing capitol equipment requests during the budget planning process. They will work closely with the materials coordinator to maintain specialty service instrumentation and supplies. They will act as the preceptor for new employees and provide feedback and evaluation to the unit manager. They will work closely with the unit manager in developing the orientation process and requirements for PACU. The RN Clinical Coordinator is responsible for providing input to the charge nurse regarding staff and assignments, on a daily basis. The RN Clinical Coordinator will serve as relief charge nurse in the absence of the unit manager. The RN Clinical Coordinator will provide coverage, such as extra hours or call, when deemed necessary by unusually high demands in the PACU, or in the event of staff shortages.
Education: RN, AD, diploma or BSN
Experience: Minimum 3 years experience in surgical nursing with 1 year experience in specialty area.
License/Certification: American Heart Association BLS & ACLS certification required within 90 day orientation period. PALS certification required within 90 day orientation period. CCRN or CPAN preferred.
