About the Opportunity

An acute care hospital has an opening available for a part-time Psychiatrist APRN (NP).  In this 20 hour per week position, you will respond to consult/liaison requests from medical and surgical nursing units to provide psycho-diagnostic evaluations and medications and treatment recommendations to medically ill patients admitted to the hospital.  This is a great opportunity for an experienced nurse!

Job Description

As the Psychiatric APRN (NP), you will:

  • Respond to consult/liaison requests from medical and surgical nursing units to provide psycho-diagnostic evaluations and medications and treatment recommendations to medically ill patients admitted to the hospital
  • Evaluate, diagnose and provide treatment to out-patients referred for behavioral health care
  • Participate in the formulation and implementation of an individualized treatment plan based on a thorough assessment of the patient's problems and needs in coordination with other members of the interdisciplinary team. 
  • Incorporate feedback from the patient's family/significant other(s), and other health and mental health providers in the treatment planning and implementation process
  • Document all treatment interventions provided to the patient in the electronic medical record
  • Prescribe and titrate appropriate medications and monitor for efficacy, possible drug/drug interactions as well as potential side effects
  • Seek consultation, supervision and assistance from appropriate professionals when patient's needs are beyond his/her own range of knowledge, experience and implementation
Required Skills
  • NP/APRN license/Masters
  • 3+ years of experience working with the mentally ill
  • Experience with medically compromised patients, ideally in a hospital setting
