Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Maintains an environment of safety for patients, self and others and supports patient safety initiatives.
Prepares pre-operatively for patient admission according to surgery center policies and procedures.
Reviews all current/pertinent diagnostic data (i.e.. abnormal/critical tests) and responds according to policy and patient needs.
Recognizes emergency situation, responds quickly and efficiently following policy and procedure, ACLS, PALS, physician orders or emergency plan to prevent adverse patient outcomes.
Provides verbal instructions to family or responsible party during peri-operative period about the whole surgical experience.
Documents that assessments, interventions and patient outcomes are performed according to policy and procedure and surgery center standards.
Restocks supplies/equipment in area to maintain adequate levels for patient care.
Checks medications for expiration dates and rotates supplies/medication so that updates are at a minimum.
Demonstrates continued competence in assessing, treating and caring for individuals based upon age-specific needs utilizing a developmental perspective.
Performs appropriate nursing duties during procedures that pertain to pain management using current nursing standards as well as surgery center standards.
Completes all documentation to ensure the availability of accurate and up to date information in accordance with established standards.
Monitors and resolves medication discrepancies in a timely manner and completes variance per policy.
Initiates, reviews and or completes medication reconciliation per policy.
