Directs the intra-operative care to surgical patients of all ages (neonatal - geriatric) provided by the RN and the CST personnel, as well as C.N.A. and Anesthesia Aides providing supportive care. Coordinates with physicians and vendors, the acquisition of equipment needed related to specific procedures. Notifies and follows-up with appropriate personnel for equipment repair and maintenance. Assigns personnel and works collaboratively with Anesthesiology, Radiology and various patient care areas to obtain maximum efficiency of daily schedule and optimal patient outcomes under direction of the Nurse Manager.
This is primarily a full time day shift position, with possible rotation and call.
Education: Graduate of an accredited school of nursing, BSN preferred. In depth knowledge of and ability to implement the AORN Standards and Recommended Practices for Peri-operative nursing.
Experience: 5 years general surgery experience preferred. Previous management/supervisory experience preferred.
Licensure: Current Connecticut registration
Certification: CPR, CNOR certification preferred
Skills: Knowledge of supervisory/management techniques. Leadership -acts as professional role model. Organization; effective use of communication/IPR skills; ability to motivate.
