The Joyce D. and Andrew J. Mandell Center for Comprehensive Multiple Sclerosis Care and Neuroscience Research is a comprehensive care center dedicated to the treatment and education of those affected by MS. The comprehensive setting of our center is unique and growing and includes a team of clinical partners in the areas of neurology, physiatry, research, urology, neuropsychiatry and rehabilitative therapy. Under the general direction of the MS Center Coordinator, and clinical supervision by the MSRH Director of Nursing, the Staff Nurse provides direct patient care, collaborates with patients, families, peers, physicians and other members of the health care team in the delivery of health care services to a specific patient population. The Staff Nurse assesses patient's needs, plans care, implements and evaluates the medical and nursing regimens in accordance with the hospital and nursing philosophy, policies/procedures and standards. He/she demonstrates leadership/management skills and a commitment to professional accountability and growth.
Fullaccess to medications is given to the incumbent of this position because they are required by their job responsibilities to handle, prepare, or administer medications.
Education: Graduate of R.N. Nursing Program.
Experience: A minimum of 3 years experience in Multiple Sclerosis (MS) care preferred.
Licensure: Current licensure with the State of Connecticut as a Registered Nurse. CPR certification.
Skills: Physical assessment skills; organizational ability. Certification in IV therapy preferred with proficiency in administering IV infusion medications. Clear, concise verbal and written communication skills. Ability to adequately use, or learn to use, the department's computerized system and its associated devices.
IV infusion experience required, also experience with EMR. Last minute availabiilty is also needed if coverage is required for sick calls.
