Will be assigned to provide clinical support to the Genesis HealthCare facilities in Kentucky and/or Tennessee.
POSITION SUMMARY: The Resource Nurse Manager is an integral part of the region’s intervention team. In such capacity, the Resource Nurse Manager travels, by pre-arrangement, to various nursing centers within the Chesapeake Region to perform systems and process assessments, design new systems and processes, create implementation plans and teach/mentor nursing center personnel, and may act as DON for a period of time. The Nurse will remain at the assigned center until appropriate outcomes are achieved. RESPONSIBILITIES/ACCOUNTABILITIES: 1. Implements philosophy, objectives, policies and standards of nursing practice in accordance with the goals of the Genesis organization and the individual nursing center. 2. Monitors nursing care to assure that all residents are treated fairly, with kindness, dignity and respect. 3. Completes daily rounds on the units to observe customers and to determine if nursing needs are being met. 4. Participates in the development, implementation and on-going evaluation of clinical priorities in the assigned center, and reviews the outcomes with the Clinical Services Manager. 5. Directs nursing management by coordinating appropriate training for program implementation, and conducts training as needed. Coordinates with Regional Clinical Educators 6. Determines that center processes and systems for completion of MDS, state documentation and transmission are efficient and working successfully. Makes recommendations for system and process changes as needed and appropriate. 7. Monitors the center-conducted Quality Review Process and participates in the Internal and External Quality Review Process. Makes recommendations and takes appropriate action to ensure compliance with established standards. 8. Advises and assists center nursing managers to ensure compliance to staffing budgets and regulations. Reviews staffing levels relative to standards of care, and makes appropriate recommendations as needed. 9. Presents changes in regulations imposed on center operations; reviews, revises, develops and works to maintain nursing policies and procedures to ensure compliance with state, federal and JCAHO (if applicable) guidelines. Provides input to other departments, as necessary, relating to policy revision or development. 10. Puts Customer Service first: Ensures that processes ans systems are in place to guarantee customers and families receive the highest quality of service in a caring and compassionate atmosphere which recognizes the individual’s needs and rights, and promoted the Genesis ElderCare philosophy. 11. Reviews nursing progress notes to ensure that they are informative and descriptive of the nursing care provided, and that they reflect the resident’s response to the plan of care. 12. Maintains cohesive public and professional relationships, including community, resident and family and physician services. 13. Works with the Medical Director and center physicians to evaluate the care provided and monitor the care delivery process. 14. Participates in the selection of residents to be admitted by evaluating the level and amount of care required by prospective residents in relation to existing nursing capabilities. 15. Acts as a role model to others for expert nursing practice. 16. Monitors and evaluates the effectiveness of care delivered to customers. 17. Supports and ensures the implementation of clinical programs, policies and procedures in the nursing center. 18. Provides education, training and mentoring as required and appropriate. 19. Evaluates the effectiveness of center-based staff development and in-service training. 20. Keeps the Vice President of Medical Affairs,Vice President of Clinical Services and the Director of Clinical Services informed and abreast of clinical issues. Immediately reports problems, issues or concerns to Clinical Service Manager. 21. Works in conjunction with Clinical Services Managers, Regional Vice Presidents, and Regional Directors of Operations to ensure that systems and processes are in place to guarantee appropriate care delivery. 22. Participates in hiring and provides orientation, training and on-going support to new Directors of Nursing, Assistant Directors of Nursing and Unit Managers. 23. Provides support to centers during regulatory surveys. Helps design, review and monitor outcomes of plans of correction. 24. Maintains current licensure. 25. All other duties as assigned. DN01
Qualifications : SPECIFIC EDUCATIONAL/VOCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS: 1. The Director of Nursing Services must be a graduate of an accredited school of nursing, college or university with a current registered nurse licensure by the State Board of Nursing. 2. Two years experience as a Director of Nursing in the long-term care environment. 3. Two additional years of experience in long-term care nursing. 4. Liscensure in (State).
