Job Summary: The EMS liaison works effectively with the Critical Care and Emergency Services Director and Manager to assess community needs; and provide emergency medical technicians (EMTs) from local rescue squads with the education required to be medical control certified. The EMS liaison role is one of leadership in the Emergency Department. He/she contributes to creating a work climate that encourages positive morale, motivation and commitment; qualities that foster a healthy team. He/she influences the emergency patient care team, which includes EMS personnel from the community, as well as St. Joseph's Hospital (SJH). Other duties as assigned.
Experience: A minimum of 3 years of Emergency Room nursing experience or EMS experience is required.
Education: Professional knowledge of nursing theory and practice at a level acquired through completion of a minimum of two years education at an accredited School of Nursing in order to be eligible for licensure as Registered Nurse is required. Bachelor's degree in Nursing is preferred.
Licensure: Requires current state of Wisconsin Registered Nurse License or a Multi-state Nursing License from a participating state in the NLC (Nurse Licensure Compact). American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support for the Healthcare Provider (BLS) or an AHA approved equivalent is required before competing orientation. American Heart Association (AHA) Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) is required within one year of hire.
